In addition to learning more about how you can be a part of the solution to global poverty, you'll hear from Dr. Paul Farmer, founder of Partners in Health and subject of the book Mountains Beyond Mountains, speak live about what it takes to build a movement to end poverty. You'll also have an opportunity to make and raise an enormous, colorful puppet and stand up against poverty with millions of people around the globe.
Stand Up and Take Action, coordinated by the UN Millennium Campaign and the Global Call to Action Against Poverty (G-CAP), is a global event in which citizens urge their leaders to keep their promises to achieve the Millennium Development Goals and work locally to ensure food security and climate justice.
Last year, more than 116 million Stood Up and Took Action to end poverty in support of the Millennium Development Goals, setting a Guinness World Record.
