On July 21st, the UN Association of Greater Philadelphia hosted their 4th annual Garden Party.
Tanisha Dyall (Senior Associate, National Membership, UN Foundation) spoke about UNA Women, a group focused on education, awareness building, and advocacy in support of women's empowerment via the United Nations. Action Corps was there with a table, passing out information about Oxfam's work with women around the world. We were also debuting our new petition!

Oxfam Action Corps' focus this summer is
Behind the Brands, an initiative to urge the ten largest food and beverage companies in the world to adopt more sustainable, fair, and transparent business practices. Each company is assessed based on seven issues: land, water, farmers, workers, climate, transparency, and women.
Oxfam is committed to making sure each company treats women fairly in their supply chains, including equal rights and equal pay. The Garden Party (with its focus on women) was an excellent forum for discussion and signatures.

It was a fun and productive day - thanks to all who took information and signed our petition, and thanks again to the UNAGP for letting us participate! We're looking forward to more collaborations coming up. In the meantime, OAC will be getting the word out at farmer's markets and other local events in and around Philadelphia - check our Facebook page or send us an email to learn more!
